Sankey Tank

Sankey Tank is a scenic man-made lake created in 1882 by Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey, then chief engineer of Mysore, to meet the growing city’s water needs. It lies between Malleswaram, Sadashivanagar and Vyalikaval in the leafy north-west of the city.
Today it is a much-loved recreation spot ringed by a walking and jogging track under old trees, with boating, a small swimming pool and plenty of water birds — a calm counterpoint to the surrounding neighbourhoods.
