The Swaminathaswamy Temple at Swamimalai is one of the six sacred Padai Veedu abodes of Murugan (Karttikeya) in Tamil Nadu, reached by a flight of steps up a small hill. In legend, Murugan expounded the meaning of the sacred syllable “Om” to his father Shiva here.
