Krishna Temple
The Krishna Temple was built by Krishnadevaraya in 1513 to celebrate his conquest of Udayagiri, and once enshrined a Balakrishna (child Krishna) image brought back as war booty. It stands just south of Hemakuta Hill, on the road between the sacred and royal centres.

The Krishna Temple was built by Krishnadevaraya in 1513 to celebrate his conquest of Udayagiri, and once enshrined a Balakrishna (child Krishna) image brought back as war booty. It stands just south of Hemakuta Hill, on the road between the sacred and royal centres.
Though no longer in worship, the walled complex is one of Hampi’s most complete — a large gopuram, pillared halls, subsidiary shrines and a colonnaded bazaar street in front. The original deity is now in a Chennai museum.
