Matanga Hill
Matanga Hill is the highest point in central Hampi, crowned by the small Veerabhadra temple. From the top there is a 360-degree panorama over the entire ruin field, the Tungabhadra river and the endless granite boulders — Hampi’s classic sunrise viewpoint.

Matanga Hill is the highest point in central Hampi, crowned by the small Veerabhadra temple. From the top there is a 360-degree panorama over the entire ruin field, the Tungabhadra river and the endless granite boulders — Hampi’s classic sunrise viewpoint.
The climb is short but steep and rocky, on stepped and rough sections; the most popular route starts near the Achyutaraya temple at the east end of the bazaar.
