The Zenana Enclosure was the secluded quarter of the royal women, a walled compound entered past watchtowers and guardrooms. Within and beside it stand some of Hampi’s best-preserved structures.
The Indo-Islamic Lotus Mahal, the domed Elephant Stables and the Guards’ quarters all belong to this compound, set in a lawned, garden-like space that is one of the calmer corners of the royal centre.
