The Malyavanta Raghunatha Temple crowns the boulder-covered Malyavanta Hill on the Kampli road east of Hampi. In the Ramayana this is where Rama and Lakshmana are said to have waited out the monsoon while searching for Sita.
The living temple has a Dravidian gopuram, rows of monolithic Shiva lingas carved into the rock outside, and sweeping views over the ruin field — a popular sunset spot that is still an active shrine.
